11/5 Gearhead and the Realbot (PCW PLAYWRIGHT’S WORKSHOP)
This Tuesday, November 5th, Play Club West will bring you the first reading in our PLAYWRIGHT’S WORKSHOP SERIES, “Gearhead and the Realbot” by Bob Simpson.
The PCW Playwright’s Workshop was established so new works could be developed, with the help of Play Club’s actors and designers. Within the span of a week, a writer will hear their work read multiple times, and will be able to make changes in the script, before culminating in a reading for an audience at Play Club West.
Space! Evil space! Following the cinematic traditions of “First Spaceship to Venus,” “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and “Bullit” comes a play that reminds us that B-movie science fiction shouldn’t be limited to the silver screen. The crew of the intrepid starship, Pomegranate Fizz, battles against the evil Professor Zee and his plan to take over the universe because…I don’t know…it’s Wednesday. Join the crew: the dashing, well-groomed Captain, the wisecracking pilot, the senile first mate, and, of course, sweet, loveable genius child, Timmy, as they fight against all odds to save the universe from Zee’s evil, though poorly thought-out, plans for universal domination!
