3/11 Checkmate (NEW WORKS SERIES)

This Tuesday, March 11th, please join us for another reading in our NEW WORKS SERIES: “Checkmate” by Laura Shamas.

PCW New Works
Once a month, Play Club West is proud to present the reading of a NEW WORK (plays, screenplays, teleplays, one acts, tv pilots), followed by a post-reading talkback.

When Barley, a young reporter, loses her job, she is recruited to become a female decoy in Joan’s detective agency. Joan’s specialty is marital infidelity. Barley’s hard-working boyfriend, Michael, begs Barley not to take the job. But for her own reasons, Barley signs on for decoy training with Joan. Michael begins to seem distant; he’s on the computer all the time. Joan teaches Barley how to find out what Michael is doing when he’s online. Barley decides to spy on Michael–with devastating consequences.
