9/5 The Seagull

09/04/2017

This Tuesday, September 5th, we will be reading THE SEAGULL by Anton Chekhov.

The Seagull

THE SEAGULL was first performed in 1896. It explores the relationship between four main characters through the context of theater and literature as well as a discussion of true art versus the appearance of art through conformity. The seagull is used as a symbol with changing meaning throughout the play, symbolizing both freedom and destruction.
